Dexter Cattle Promotion Group of South West Western Australia
Members of the Dexter Group of South West Western Australia have properties in and around the country towns located to the south of Perth.
Our region covers the area from North Dandalup to Northcliffe and all towns in between. We are a relatively young group but we are making our mark at expos and in the show rings of Western Australia.
We attend a number of local shows and field days each year where we spread the good word about Dexters. As with all worthwhile things there is considerable work involved, but the camaraderie amongst members is terrific and, come rain hail or shine, we always have a good time.
Dexters, being curious and full of personality, are always good to work with and seem to enjoy the interest shown by the public as much as we do.
Balingup Small Farm Field Day is one of our feature promotional events which attracts many people from the South West and surrounding areas.
This year the morning was crisp and clear, looking like being a beautiful day, and it turned out to be just that.
Only a few members were able to attend, but it did not dampen our enthusiasm. We talked non-stop for about eight hours, and it was very rewarding. The interest from the public was amazing and cattle sales were made on the day. The main attraction being the new born calf we had on display.
It was a great achievement for our group to win the highly commended Best Livestock Exhibit 2013 and 2014.
Along with our calendar of promotional activities, the Dexter Group of South West Western Australia holds a number of meetings and social functions throughout the year. We often meet at different hotels where we share a meal after the meeting.
Social days are combined with meetings and information sharing at various studs. Business is mixed with pleasure over a barbecue lunch where good conversation and company is enjoyed by all.
Some of our members take great pride in showing their cattle at the Perth Royal Show, regional agricultural shows and State Breed Shows.
For more information about our group and how you can get involved please contact our group secretary or any of our registered members to find out more. New members and visitors are always most welcome at any of our activities.
