Dexter Cattle Promotion Group (DCAI) - VICTORIA
VICTORIA
Seymour Alternative Farming Expo 2019

This was the first time I have taken cattle to the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo or any other show or exhibit , so when I intrepidly put my hand up to provide the cattle for this years Victorian Dexter Group site I knew-not what I was in for
Now I do now and it was a great experience. I took with me a nice two year old steer to demonstrate their usefulness as meat producers and his eleven-month old sister.
There was a lot of interest in the breed, often from prospective owners who were new to Dexters.
It was lovely to chat and extol the virtues of the breed, that I am sure provided them with plenty of food for thought. It would a fair assumption to say that the drought will impede any decision making in the near future but thought may become action when things improve.
The list of available cattle was a useful tool, although perhaps better if we had information from more breeders.
From a personal note both the cattle were improved by being exposed to the show environment and have been easier to handle since coming home and I would recommend it to anyone who has time to bring their animals.
