SYDNEY PROMOTION GROUP - TOCAL SMALL FARMS FIELD DAY 2019

The Sydney Dexter Cattle Promotion Group attended the Tocal Field Days on Friday 3rd May, Saturday 5th May and Sunday 6th May

On Day One, the Dexter display was visited by several school groups who were interested in agriculture and livestock in particular – when speaking to the students it was obvious that many had some previous knowledge about the breed and they were able to pick up lots of further information from the material on display. Chris Clarke and others were impressed with both the level of student interest and knowledge from the visiting school groups

DCAI members Kathy Baker, Samantha Kate Allen and Natasha Shankelton had been talking to the Mudgee Agricultural Society for several months about having Dexters as the Feature Breed at this year's Mudgee Show that was held on the 2nd March.

Invitations were sent out in Mid-January by email and on the Dexter Cattle Enthusiast Facebook page.  Entry requirements about Pestivirus testing and Show Entry forms were also posted on Facebook as the date of the show approached. Read More

DEXTER CATTLE EXHIBITED AT MOSS VALE FEB. 2019

Sydney Group put on a very good display of Dexter cattle at the Moss Vale Small Farms Field Day on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of February. A little rain on Saturday settled the dust but by Sunday the heat was back. Moss Vale Small Farms Field Day has proven to be an excellent platform for the promotion of Dexter cattle with its proximity to rural, semi rural and urban centers.

The two-day event held at the Moss Vale Showground was packed with a great-array of exhibits and companies displaying and demonstrating their small farm products.

In spite of the diversity of things to see and do the Dexters did not go unnoticed with prominent signage and banners to draw the attention of visitors.

Dexter Cattle Expo 2015

When Marion Watts and Chris Clark came up with the idea to holding a Dexter Cattle Expo at Macksville I am sure that the first response they received would have been “You must be dreaming”.   In spite of the naysayers they carried on and plotted a steady course as they focused on their goal.  Well they had done it before in 2006 (which seems like a long time ago).

The North Coast Dexter Cattle Promotion Group gave their full support and when the Manning Valley Group offered to team up and support the event they were on the way to realising their dream.

Once DCAI had agreed to hold the AGM at Macksville in conjunction with the EXPO  there was no turning back. READ MORE...
