Dexter Cattle Promotion Group (DCAI) - NSW
The Dexter Cattle Promotion Group of North Coast NSW covers
a large area from Tweed Heads in the north to Macksville in the south
and Dorrigo to the west.
We meet four times a year at different locations, often combining this with a field day so as many members and interested persons as possible can catch up and talk Dexter Cattle. Our field days focus on a specific range of topics which form the framework of interactive workshops.
Aside from enjoying having access to a different host stud and a variety of Dexter bloodlines, meetings are a place to network.
Dexter enthusiasts, share ideas and invaluable stories about Dexter breeding, farm management and showing. We encourage members to express their interests and queries so we may plan future events tailored to the needs of the members.
There is a strong contingent of showers amongst our members. Those members field some very strong contenders in Dexter specific and interbreed classes at Agricultural and Royal shows. Their dedication to the structural correctness and presentation of Dexter cattle maintains a continued presence of the breed in the public arena. Every show improves the awareness and understanding of these wonderful cattle.
Our biggest promotion of the year is Primex, held in June at Casino in Northern New South Wales. Each year Primex attracts people from all over Australia and is growing in popularity with international visitors. As a Group we are always there offering as many people as we can the opportunity to fully understand the versatility of Dexter cattle.
Living in an area that promotes a sustainable lifestyle, we find that Dexter cattle are fast becoming the cattle of choice for a diverse group of small acre farmers.
As the interest grows so does the range of topics and interests bought to the group to meet the new challenges. Every new comer to the breed brings a new aspect to our knowledge and discussions.
The North Coast Dexter Promotion Group welcomes new members and interested members of the public to their social and field day events. Please contact the Group Secretary for more information.
