Dexter Cattle (DCAI)  Become A Member

Enhance your experiences on the land with Dexter Cattle

Becoming a member of DCAI can be so much more than just having registered Dexter Cattle. Membership can lead you on a whole new adventure of learning, socialising and perhaps even some competition. These unique cattle offer rewards and challenges for people of all walks of life from the very young to those at the more mature end of life.  So why not join us and take advantage of the opportunities being a member of the Dexter Cattle community can offer.

DCAI Membership: Entitlements and Fees

Membership Year:

The DCAI membership year runs from 1st July to 30th June

Membership Fees are due and payable from the 1st of July each year.

 

Categories of Membership:

DCAI welcomes new memberships at a number of levels including Full, Junior and Associate Members.

In addition DCAI encourages persons or organisations interested in Dexter cattle to subscribe to our member Magazine "The Dexter Bulletin".

 

DCAI Full Membership entitlements:

Full Membership of DCAI is open to all persons over the age of 18 years who are interested in the breeding of Dexter cattle.

Full members of DCAI are entitled to:-

  • Own registered Dexter Cattle; and

  • Nominate their own unique stud name/prefix; and

  • Receive a unique Member number/ herd code; and

  • Register Dexter cattle in the DCAI Herdbook; and

  • Show Dexter Cattle at all Dexter Cattle (DCAI) Breed Shows, Royal, regional and other cattle shows; and

  • Receive copies of all Dexter Cattle Australia Member publications; and

  • Access to the Member section of the website; and

  • Advertise in DCAI Promotional publications; and

  • Participate in Dexter Cattle Promotion Group activities; and

  • Attend and vote at any DCAI General Meeting; and

  • Attend and vote at Dexter Cattle Promotion Group Meetings; and

  • Hold any position on the DCAI Council as elected (subject to the DCAI Constituion); and

  • Hold any position on a Dexter Cattle Promotion Group Committee as elected (subject to the DCAi Constitution).

The DCAI Constitution and Rules were updated in October 2015 and contain current information about member entitlements.

 

DCAI Full Membership fees:

  • Joining Fee $44.00 (one off administrative fee)

  • Annual Membership Fee: $180 per annum  (July 1st - June 30th)

 

DCAI Junior Membership entitlements 

Junior Membership of DCAI is open to all persons under the age of 18 years who are interested in breeding Registered Dexter Cattle. Applications for Junior Membership must be signed by a legal guardian or parent. 

DCAI Junior Members are entitled to:

  • Own Registered Dexter cattle (Limit of six (6) registered animals at one time); and

  • Register cattle in the DCAI Herdbook; and

  • Show Dexter Cattle at all Royal and regional and other cattle shows; and 

  • Receive copies of all Dexter Cattle Australia Member publications; and

  • Access to the Member section of the DCAI website; and

  • Advertise in DCAI Promotional publications; and

  • Participate in Dexter Cattle Promotion Group activities.

DCAI Junior Membership fees:

  • Joining Fee: Nil

  • Annual Membership Fee: $35.00 per annum (July 1st - June 30th)

 

DCAI Associate Membership

Associate Membership of DCAI is open to any persons or organisations interested in Dexter cattle and those with commercial herds of Dexter cattle.

DCAI Associate Members are Entitled to:

  • Receive copies of all Dexter Cattle Australia Member publications; and

  • Access to the Member section of the DCAI website; and

  • Participate in Dexter Cattle Promotion Group activities.

DCAI Associate Membership fees:

  • Joining Fee: Nil

  • Annual Membership Fee: $75.00 per annum (July 1st - June 30th)

Note: Associate Members are welcome to upgrade to full membership at anytime. The nominated joining fee applies when upgrading to full Membership.

 

Applying for Membership of Dexter Cattle Australia Inc. (DCAI)

If you are intending to become a member of Dexter Cattle Australia Inc. you will need to fill in a Membership Application form which can be filled in using our on-line form of downloaded by clicking the link provided. 

Your application will be forwarded by the DCAI Registrar to the DCAI Council for approval. The approval process is there to ensue the name you have chosen for your stud and animal tattoo prefix is not the same or too close to that of an existing member.

Once the Council has reviewed and approved the application the Registrar will notify you, your details will be included on the DCAI Member Data-base and you will be a Registered Member of DCAI. A new Member information kit containing a range of useful information will be forwarded to you. 

 

DCAI Constitution, Rules and Herdbook Regulations

When you become a member you agree to adhere to the DCAI Constitution & Rules and Herdbook Regulations. It is advisable to familiarise yourself with these documents before becoming a Member. All of these documents can be found by using the links provided.
